The growth hormone secretagogue conversation, sorted out.

These peptides are studied for how they interact with the body's own growth hormone release pathway — and they're the compounds most often confused for one another. Here's what separates them.

01

CJC-1295

GRF analog

CJC-1295 is a modified version of growth hormone releasing factor (GRF), engineered to last longer in the body than the naturally occurring hormone. This extended half-life is the main reason it's distinguished from earlier GHRH analogs in research.

It's frequently studied alongside a GHRP (growth hormone releasing peptide) since the two are thought to work through complementary pathways. Research has focused on the combined and individual effects on the pituitary's growth hormone release.

02

Ipamorelin

GH secretagogue

Ipamorelin is a growth hormone releasing peptide developed to be more selective than earlier compounds in its class. Researchers designed it specifically to stimulate growth hormone release while minimizing effects on other hormones.

Studies have compared its research profile to older secretagogues, suggesting fewer effects on cortisol and appetite-related hormones like ghrelin. This selectivity is what distinguishes it in the growth hormone secretagogue literature.

"Same hormone pathway, four different peptides — the differences are all in the details."

03

Sermorelin

GHRH analog

Sermorelin is one of the earliest GHRH (growth hormone releasing hormone) analogs studied in this space, representing a shorter, more stable version of the natural hormone that stimulates the pituitary gland.

Because of its early development, it has one of the longer research track records among growth hormone secretagogues, with studies examining how effectively it stimulates the body's own natural production compared to administering growth hormone directly.

04

Hexarelin

GHRP

Hexarelin is a potent growth hormone releasing peptide that stands out in the literature for having a second, distinct research thread: separate studies have looked at its interaction with cardiac tissue, independent of its GH-stimulating effects.

This dual research interest — growth hormone stimulation on one hand, cardiac-specific study on the other — makes Hexarelin one of the more scientifically distinct compounds within the secretagogue category.
